Great Marsh Projects
Marine Debris introduces harmful microplastics into the Great Marsh ecosystem. Plastics break down into smaller particles and do not go away. Microplastics are harmful to humans and wildlife. Plastic particles are toxic and will cause physical harm when ingested. Thirty percent of microplastics come from styrofoam, bags, wrappers, and plastic bottles.
ESTUARINE DEBRIS
The Partnership is embarking on research to determine the extent and impact of marine debris in the Great Marsh while removing the debris from the estuaries.
